What helps a person truly thrive? This summer we’re creating space to listen and learn from those who are helping others grow towards a life of thriving, in powerful and practical ways.

Our Sunday morning forum: THRIVE: Conversations for the Common Good brings together a range of voices—local leaders, nonprofit partners, faithful practitioners, and thoughtful neighbors. Together, we’ll explore what it means to cultivate thriving lives, families, and communities through small, consistent acts of love, service, resilience, and imagination.

These aren’t lectures. They’re openhearted conversations. Each week, you’re invited to come curious, listen deeply, and leave with new insights and encouragement for your own journey.

Join us Sundays at 10AM in Fellowship Hall North for one or more of these conversations:

  • July 6 – Gardening to Thrive Laura Pollard introduces the Yard-by-Yard program, sharing how composting, pollinator gardens, and growing food care for the planet can connect us to creation. Shelley Regan will share how tending the earth nurtures your spirit while connecting you to the transcendent.

  • July 13 – Thriving Through Conflict Conflict is inevitable-what makes the difference is how we respond. Rev. Dr. George Young, former state senator and pastor, shares practical strategies from a lifetime of mediating change in families, congregations, and public life.

  • July 20 – Nature, Kids, and Thriving Families Therapist and mother Anna (Regan) Palermo invites us to rediscover how time outdoors nurtures resilience, curiosity, and connection—not just for kids, but for all of us. When we remember we are part of nature, not separate from it, even simple moments outside can become sacred ground for thriving together.

  • July 27 – Edmond Mobile Meals delivers more than food, they deliver care and connection. Director Cristi Twenter and Edmond City Councilmember Maggie Murdock Nichols will share how meals and the teams that deliver them help seniors thrive in place.

  • August 3 – Puerto Rico Mission - Cindy Radford, David Wheeler and Rev. John Regan will share what they learned on their journey to Puerto Rico with Week of Compassion, exploring the potential for long-term mission partnerships with communities who are striving to become resilient following disasters.

  • August 10 – Thriving in the Third-Third of Life Rev. Jim Randall, Oklahoma AARP President will share inspiration and resources for thriving later in life, plus helpful tools for those walking alongside aging loved ones.

  • August 17 - Back-to-School Brunch & MOVE Up Sunday! Join us for colored pancakes and a preview of what’s coming this fall at First Christian!

Open tables. Bold questions. Love in action. This is what it means to thrive!
