Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday Service February 18 - 6:30PM
Ash Wednesday is one of those strange days in the life of the church. We gather to hear honest words about our own mortality and receive ashes in the shape of a cross, a practice Christians have returned to for centuries. It’s somber. It’s honest. And somehow, year after year, it’s also strangely meaningful.
This year, our Ash Wednesday service launches our Lenten series, Everything In Between. Throughout the season of Lent, we’ll explore the tensions we often treat as opposites and look for God beyond easy either-or answers.
We begin with an invitation that sounds simple and turns out to be anything but: follow me. The people who say yes have good reasons to wait. Just a little longer. After this one thing. Once I’m ready.
Ash Wednesday names the space between wanting to live differently and actually doing it. Between good intentions and real commitment. Between knowing what matters and rearranging our lives around it.
Join us Wednesday, February 18 at 6:30 pm, for a brief service of scripture, music, reflection and prayer. You’ll have the option of receiving ashes on your forehead or hand, or simply a blessing. The ashes remind us that we are dust, and to dust we shall return. It’s confronting. But it’s also freeing, because it tells the truth and invites us to stop waiting for the perfect moment to begin.
Wherever you find yourself between intention and action, there is room for you here as we begin the season of Lent and Everything In Between.
