About Our Services
8:15am Traditional Worship – in the Chapel
This somewhat informal, traditional worship begins with greeting one another followed by the singing of a hymn. We include a children's moment before moving into our time of communion and offering. This is followed by scripture and the sermon, and we end with a hymn before going forth to serve God. The worship content and design is very similar, but less formal than the 11am worship, and features familiar hymns out of the denominational hymnal, typically accompanied by organist.
9:00am Contemporary Worship – in the Sanctuary
Our least formal service, some may call it contemporary, others may consider it “blended.” Whatever it’s referred to, it features a heavy focus on congregational singing led by an accomplished ensemble of musicians including song leader and other vocalists, keyboard, guitar, drums. Music is a mix of modern praise choruses and contemporary Christian songs and ancient hymns set to modern music.
Announcements and lyrics are projected onto large screens, and the general atmosphere is more casual than our other worship services. It’s not unusual to see someone in a suit sitting next to someone in jeans. You will experience a time of greeting one another, welcoming of children, Scripture reading, a message from one of our ministers, and the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. Communion and offering are celebrated by the gathered community coming forward to give and receive.
11:00am Traditional Worship – in the Sanctuary
The most traditional of the three services in terms of style, this service embraces a wondrous blend of traditional and modern hymns of faith, woven into the rich tapestry of scriptural readings, a sermon, the Celebration of the Lord’s Supper and familiar prayers that celebrate the timeless faith we share.
Communion is served in the pews. Liturgical readings and responses are sometimes used, especially during holy seasons or special events. Ministers and choir wear robes and stoles and the order of worship features more music than the 8:15 service. Music is led by our Minister of Music and accompanied by both piano and organ. Our Chancel Choir offers choral anthems from September to June. Our Bell Choir plays several times each year, and other musicians and ensembles periodically offer their gifts in worship.
A children’s message is a part of each Sunday’s service. Sprout's children’s worship is an option for younger children on all but the last Sunday of each month.
