Generations Learning Together is about growing connections within the community. Dr. Glee Bertram, Ph.D., a UCO professor in human environmental sciences, is leading an ongoing project that connects children at the FCC Child Care Center with older adults. The project also includes students from UCO’s family life education, nutrition, dance and kinesiology programs.
Children ages 3-4, college students, and older adults come for a one hour event twice a month to create, build, move, and discover together. Dr. Bertram, along with several of her college students, plans activities that engage each person from various generations.
The meeting dates scheduled for spring are: February 27; March 6 & 27; April 3 & 17. The program will start at 10am and are done by 11am.
The group is now asking for additional older adults in the community to come and participate. There is no obligation to come to each scheduled date, but participants are encouraged to come and make connections. You won’t be disappointed! There is nothing like a smile or high-five from a young person and great conversation with a college student.
