“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon [money, possessions, fame, status, or whatever is valued more than the Lord]. “Therefore I tell you, stop being worried or anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted) about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, as to what you will wear. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow [seed] nor reap [the harvest] nor gather [the crops] into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by worrying can add one [l] hour to [the length of] his life? - Matthew 6: 24-27 Amplified
So very often I spend my time thinking about what is going on around me. I listen to the news spin of the day and wonder if tomorrow will even come. Then I remember what Jesus said about being divided in our attention and loyalty. He said it doesn’t work. He reminds us that He takes care of us…guides us and delivers us from ourselves. I don’t know all the answers or solutions—but I do know the Solver and I find I must remind myself to trust Him.
Merciful Solver and Savior, we bring to You our anxiety and fear—remind us that in You alone are solutions found and peace restored. Amen
