Parish Nurses

The Parish Nurse Ministry is sponsored by our spiritual ministires, to promote health and wholeness. It consists of a group of nurses who encourage all to live a healthy lifestyle physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. The Parish Nurses offer blood pressure monitoring the first Sunday of each month from 9am to noon, in the Parish Nurse Office – Room 132. The office is also open Tuesdays from 1 to 3pm, with a parish nurse ready to discuss health concerns. “Back Door Readings” and newsletter articles offer monthly health tips. They offer flu shot clinics, health counseling and assessments, and suggestions for weight loss and disease prevention. Making appropriate choices can promote a wholeness of body, mind, and spirit. Healing Touch

An outgrowth of our Parish Nursing Ministry and Spiritual Ministries, healing touch is offered. This therapeutic approach to health and healing based on our Christian tradition of laying-on of hands. This relaxing therapy uses gentle touch to reduce stress, calm anxiety, decrease pain, enhance recovery from surgery, and deepen spiritual connection. In a Healing Touch session you will feel God’s nurturing presence flowing through and all around you. Free for church members, appointments may be made with Barbara Henthorn, R.N., Certified Healing Touch Practioner, at 348-9157.
