June 9 - Lisa Davison
Rev. Dr. Lisa Davison is the Johnnie Eargle Cadieux Professor of Hebrew Bible at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A native of Radford, Virginia, Dr. Davison has a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Spanish from Lynchburg College; a Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University, and a Master of Arts from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Davison received her Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible from Vanderbilt University. She is ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and has served congregations in Texas & Kentucky.
Davison will present Studying Scripture like a Disciple—Alexander Campbell’s faith and discipline. While many people are aware of certain Spiritual Disciplines (e.g., fasting, prayer, lectio divina, etc.), they do not think of critical interpretation of biblical texts as one of them. Davison will help us examine this ancient practice as a Spiritual Discipline vital to our Disciples' heritage.
