July 28 - Dan Straughn
Dan Straughn, Executive Director of the Homeless Alliance knows homelessness is a complex issue that can’t be solved by any single agency. But he wants people to know there is hope.
A lifelong resident of central Oklahoma, Straughn founded the Homeless Alliance in 2004 to build the community’s capacity to better care for the homeless. The innovative work of the agency includes a shared database that allows agencies serving the homeless to share data on shared clients, community standards for homeless shelters, and the WestTown Homeless Resources Campus. This “one-stop shop” brings service providers together to present and address homelessness through collaboration. The campus has everything from a library, to a place were people can get haircuts, showers and a health check-up. Their coordinated case management also provides housing and supportive services for homeless and at-risk families.
