Healing Power of Faith - Anonymous

Like most families, some of our lives’ events and happenings called for healing:

  • Hepatitis with a hospital stay for 30 days.  Church praying and nurses praying.
  • OKC Bombing and counseling sessions to handle the crisis. Church praying.
  • Daughter-in-law died after a one-year struggle with cancer. Churches praying.
  • Son and new wife married, went through efforts to conceive, went the in vitro fertilization course, and had twins.  One of them died within three days of delivery due to complications.  Many prayers and much heartache.
  • One member had a hysterectomy, then breast cancer, and detached retina at the same time.  Much prayer and survival.
  • Daughter had a messy divorce and shares three children half the time. Divorce is difficult for all involved, including grandparents on both sides. Prayers for the children and the two parents. 
  • 2 knees replaced and therapy. Prayers.
  • 2 hips replaced and therapy. Prayers.
  • Double bypass surgery and therapy after earlier heart attack. Prayers.
  • Loss of both maternal parents one week apart, out of state. Prayers.
  • Loss of two brothers one in 2005 and one in 2015, out of state.  Hard prayers.
There will be more to face I am sure, but with God’s help we will rise above as best we can.

Our family, like most, has had its share of trauma and heartache.  Faith has always borne us through those times.  We know God loves us and gives us strength to carry-on.  No matter what we have had to face, we have learned there are others suffering far greater and those suffering less.  We just live life one day at a time knowing God’s love and grace carries us forward.

Have we suffered?  Have we worried?  Yes!  Have we lost loved ones?  Yes!  Have we struggled with life?  Yes!  Each trauma or ordeal we have faced has allowed us to experience the healing power of our faith in God. We know God heals wounds and losses.  Our hearts and spirits are healed by God’s never ending love and grace.

Reflection Question: In suffering and in worry, how do you lean on God's love and grace?
