Financial Peace University
In the Fall of 2013, the Adult Education Team started the Financial Literacy Ministry when First Christian held its first Financial Peace University (FPU) Class. Since that first class, FCC has held 8 FPU classes helping 35 Families better manage their finances.
Financial Peace University is a nine-lesson class taught by financial expert Dave Ramsey that will teach you how to take control of your money. This class is taught on DVD but supported by a small group facilitated by an FCC Edmond leader.
In the fall of 2017, the Financial Literacy Ministry evolved and took the next step to help the families and community of FCC by sending Cameron Woods to Dave Ramsey's Financial Coach Master Training using a grant from Endowment Allocation.
In taking this step, the Financial Literacy Ministry became the Financial Wellness Ministry of First Christian Church, and in doing so evolved from simply educating participants to helping them reach and maintain a state of financial wellness. The Financial Wellness Ministry's goal is to offer a wide variety of educational and support opportunities to allow families to be great stewards of the resources that God has entrusted to them. This ministry encompasses Financial Peace University and Financial Coaching.
What is a Financial Coach? They are someone, just like any good architect, helps establish a good foundation for every project. They are there to help navigate financial crisis and help plan for the future. Depending on the need, budgeting, crisis management and planning are covered during a session. These coaching sessions are one on one sessions.
We are excited to have Cameron Woods as FCC's Financial Coach. To learn more about Cameron, click here.
Future of Financial Wellness Ministry
Our long-term goal is to have two to three counselors that can serve the community with Financial Coaching, as well as volunteers who facilitate classes and workshops. One of First Christian's Core Values is OPEN HANDS, seeking ways to meet the needs of the community and the world. We know financial health is a key component of healthy families and we are committed to supporting our community in this way.
