“And she gave birth to her first-born son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” Luke 2:7
The love we have for our children is deep, unending and sometimes painful. We feel all their joys, achievements, mistakes and disappointments right along with them. And the heartache, overwhelming love and all the emotion that goes with it can cause us just as much physical pain.
I love the song “Mary Did You Know.” Google the version by Pentatonix - you will weep! The magnitude of responsibility Mary had for her son, Jesus is hard for anyone to comprehend.
“Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations?
Mary did you know that your baby boy is Heaven’s perfect lamb?
The sleeping Child your holding is the Great, I Am.”
Mary protected Jesus, fed Him, clothed Him, raised Him and He left to do the work God had for Him- to follow His plan. Mary and Joseph both poured all their love into Him. Their child. Our gift.
I wonder, during this season of Advent, would you accept His gift? His gift of Life, Love and Eternal Peace – His gift of a forever home with Him.
