Continue to Learn New Things - Karla Rowley

When Jesus had finished [speaking] these words [on the mountain], the crowds were astonished and overwhelmed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one who had authority [to teach entirely of His own volition], and not as their scribes [who relied on others to confirm their authority]. - Matthew 7: 28-29 Amplified

When was the last time that we felt overwhelmed and astonished by the wisdom of the words we were hearing?  When Rob and I read our devotions each day we find that there is almost a rhythm to what we read.  On some days we are challenged in our beliefs—on other days we sense comfort and peace.  At this stage of our life journey, we find that we continue to learn new things.  We find that there are days when Jesus’ words come through in their entirety.  He still speaks with authority.

Father God, thank you for the words which were spoken by Jesus.  Thank you for the challenge of those words, for the authority he commanded.  Open our ears to hear both the challenge and the instruction intended for us this day.  Amen
