Child Care Center

We offer care daily from 6:45am to 6:00pm for children 6 weeks of age through the completion of fifth grade.  We offer transportation to area public and private schools at no additional charge, house an Edmond Public Schools Pre-K classroom, and offer Private full-day kindergarten as well with a certified teacher utilizing the A Beka curriculum.

Since 1963 the education building at First Christian Church has been filled with the sights and sounds of children of all ages each weekday. This outreach ministry was begun in response to the need of a single mother who was returning to school to complete her education. We have the distinction of being the first licensed child care facility in Oklahoma.

Our Philosophy

Our mission is to serve children and families by providing an early learning environment that encourages the spiritual, physical, social-emotional, and intellectual development of each individual child at his or her own pace, following state and nationally accepted standards of child care.

Our Mission

Here at First Christian, we believe a child’s early experiences enrich and foster future growth. Children deserve to be treated and respected as  individuals in our Christian environment that welcomes reason, exploration, question, and imagination. We value each child’s need for safety, security, warmth, and acceptance in the promise of God’s love.

Our Teachers

Each classroom has at least one lead teacher (responsible for meeting center curriculum standards in lesson planning) and several assistant teachers. We believe that educated, knowledgeable teachers are a benefit to the care and nurturing of children. We feel fortunate that our center teachers come from diverse educational backgrounds.  Some have four year degrees in child development and education, others have field-specific early childhood Certificates of Mastery or Child Development Associate credentials, and all are required to hold current pediatric First Aid/CPR certification and obtain a minimum of 20 classroom hours of continuing education training per year.

Each employee goes through an orientation process, Entry Level Child Care Training, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation background checks (both name based and sex offender searches), the Oklahoma Department of Human Services Joshua's List check, and both personal and professional reference checks.  Additionally, our vehicle drivers attend Driver's Training and pass qualification by our insurance company based on safe driving records.
