In the event of inclement weather, First Christian Church Child Care Center will be closed for the first day that Edmond Public Schools are closed.  We evaluate the condition of weather and roads for the second and subsequent days.

Since 1963 the education building at First Christian Church has been filled with the sights and sounds of children of all ages each weekday. This outreach ministry was begun in response to the need of a single mother who was returning to school to complete her education. We have the distinction of being the first licensed child care facility in Oklahoma.

We offer care Monday through Friday from 6:45am to 6:00pm for children 6 weeks of age through the completion of fifth grade.  We offer transportation to area public and private schools at no additional charge, house an Edmond Public Schools Pre-K classroom, and offer Private full-day kindergarten as well with a certified teacher utilizing the A Beka curriculum.

Our mission is to serve children and families by providing an early learning environment that encourages the spiritual, physical, social-emotional, and intellectual development of each individual child at his or her own pace, following state and nationally accepted standards of child care.

We believe a child’s early experiences enrich and foster future growth. Children deserve to be treated and respected as  individuals in our Christian environment that welcomes reason, exploration, question, and imagination. We value each child’s need for safety, security, warmth, and acceptance in the promise of God’s love.

We Are NAC Accredited

First Christian Church Child Care Center is accredited by the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs (NAC), which is managed by the National Association of Child Care Professionals. NAC Accreditation recognizes FCCCCC as an early care and education program that exemplifies excellence in the care of young children. NAC accreditation benefits everyone involved. Parents can be assured FCCCCC has met standards exceeding the minimum necessary for licensing, staff members have benefited from professional development and children enrolled have an environment conducive to their individual growth and development.

About Our Teachers

Each classroom has at least one lead teacher (responsible for meeting center curriculum standards in lesson planning) and several assistant teachers. We believe that educated, knowledgeable teachers are a benefit to the care and nurturing of children. We feel fortunate that our center teachers come from diverse educational backgrounds.  Some have four year degrees in child development and education, others have field-specific early childhood Certificates of Mastery or Child Development Associate credentials, and all are required to hold current pediatric First Aid/CPR certification and obtain a minimum of 20 classroom hours of continuing education training per year.

Each employee goes through an orientation process, Entry Level Child Care Training, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation background checks (both name based and sex offender searches), the Oklahoma Department of Human Services Joshua's List check, and both personal and professional reference checks.  Additionally, our vehicle drivers attend Driver's Training and pass qualification by our insurance company based on safe driving records.

Teachers of the Month

Each month, First Christian Church Child Care Center recognizes its Teachers of the Month.  We are honored to have these exceptional caregivers on our staff!

Ashley Kerr, Assistant Teacher to Explorers

Ashley Kerr has been employed at First Christian Church Child Care Center for 4 months. She is dependable, friendly and has great customer service! When she talks with children she is soft spoken and kind. The most obvious attribute we see in Ashley is how patient she is with children. For these reasons we would like to present Ashley Kerr with the Teacher of the Month Award! Thank you Ashley for all you do!

Harlee Verrill, Assistant Teacher to the Butterflies

Harlee Verrill has been employed with First Christian Church Child Care Center for almost 2 years now. The most outstanding attribute about this employee is her vibrant love for children. Harlee is outgoing and fun to be around! She has worked in the two-year-old class since she started, but is not opposed to helping out where needed. She is punctual and dependable. Over Spring Break she was taken out of her comfort zone and placed somewhere else. Harlee never complained and was most helpful. Other teachers spoke highly of how well she worked with the children, and how much help she was to them. Harlee has a great relationship with the parents in her class and the children love her! It is for these reasons that we present Harlee Verrill with the Teacher of the Month Award!

Michael Miller, Kitchen Assistant & Bus Driver

Michael Miller is one of our hard working kitchen assistants and bus drivers. He has been employed with First Christian Church Child Care Center for several years now. However, he has grown tremendously within this past year, and it has not gone unnoticed! Michael is a self-starter, has great leadership skills, and is consistently on time. His perfectionism benefits us in many ways: Michael pushes to make sure meals are started on time; classrooms get their carts on time; children get to school on time; buses are fueled and in good condition. He is quick to communicate when there is a problem or conflict with something, and he is also quick to come up with a possible solution. We appreciate Michael’s hard work and dedication to the Center. For these reasons, it is our honor to present Michael Miller with the Teacher of the Month Award!  Thank you Michael for all you do!
