Due to inclement weather, first Christian church child care center will be closed tomorrow Thursday March 5th. Stay warm and be safe!

Since 1963 the education building at First Christian Church has been filled with the sights and sounds of children of all ages each weekday. This outreach ministry was begun in response to the need of a single mother who was returning to school to complete her education. We have the distinction of being the first licensed child care facility in Oklahoma.

We offer care Monday through Friday from 6:45am to 6:00pm for children 6 weeks of age through the completion of fifth grade.  We offer transportation to area public and private schools at no additional charge, house an Edmond Public Schools Pre-K classroom, and offer Private full-day kindergarten as well with a certified teacher utilizing the A Beka curriculum.

Our mission is to serve children and families by providing an early learning environment that encourages the spiritual, physical, social-emotional, and intellectual development of each individual child at his or her own pace, following state and nationally accepted standards of child care.

We believe a child’s early experiences enrich and foster future growth. Children deserve to be treated and respected as  individuals in our Christian environment that welcomes reason, exploration, question, and imagination. We value each child’s need for safety, security, warmth, and acceptance in the promise of God’s love.

We Are NAC Accredited

First Christian Church Child Care Center is accredited by the National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs (NAC), which is managed by the National Association of Child Care Professionals. NAC Accreditation recognizes FCCCCC as an early care and education program that exemplifies excellence in the care of young children. NAC accreditation benefits everyone involved. Parents can be assured FCCCCC has met standards exceeding the minimum necessary for licensing, staff members have benefited from professional development and children enrolled have an environment conducive to their individual growth and development.

About Our Teachers

Each classroom has at least one lead teacher (responsible for meeting center curriculum standards in lesson planning) and several assistant teachers. We believe that educated, knowledgeable teachers are a benefit to the care and nurturing of children. We feel fortunate that our center teachers come from diverse educational backgrounds.  Some have four year degrees in child development and education, others have field-specific early childhood Certificates of Mastery or Child Development Associate credentials, and all are required to hold current pediatric First Aid/CPR certification and obtain a minimum of 20 classroom hours of continuing education training per year.

Each employee goes through an orientation process, Entry Level Child Care Training, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation background checks (both name based and sex offender searches), the Oklahoma Department of Human Services Joshua's List check, and both personal and professional reference checks.  Additionally, our vehicle drivers attend Driver's Training and pass qualification by our insurance company based on safe driving records.

Teachers of the Month

Each month, First Christian Church Child Care Center recognizes its Teachers of the Month.  We are honored to have these exceptional caregivers on our staff!

Rachel Wood

Rachel came to us straight out of high school, but it was within her first month of employment that we could tell that this young woman’s high school days were way behind her. To be one of our youngest employees, she shows great maturity, leadership, integrity and enthusiasm for her job. Rachel is very creative and is also an active member of First Christian Church. She is willing to do anything we ask and ready to step up when it is needed. For these reason, it is our honor to present Rachel Wood with the Teacher of The Month Award! Thank you Rachel for all you do!

Danysha Wright

DaNysha Wright has been employed with us since the summer of 2014, and she is a ray of sunshine! She comes to work most generally with a beautiful smile on her face. She is prompt, dependable, and works well with the teachers in her classroom. Although she tends to be quiet, her outstanding work ethic speaks volumes about her character. For these reason, it is our honor to present DaNysha Wright with the Teacher of The Month Award! Thank you DaNysha for all you do!

Talea Sumlin

Talea has only been employed with us for 5 months, but it did not take long for us to see what she was all about! On her first day she jumped right in: implementing policies, teaching the children, and engaging in teacher/child interactions. From her first week until now, there has been and still is constant talk of how wonderful she is. Talea started as a part time assistant teacher in Explorers, then when the a teacher needed leave to take care of family matters, Talea was excited to step up, and is now the Primary teacher of our Private Kindergarten classroom. No one knew what to expect, but again, it did not take long for Talea to wow us all! For these reasons, it is our honor to present Talea Sumlin with the Teacher of The Month Award! Thank you Talea for all you do!
