Living out the core value of risk-taking mission and service means a commitment of both our money and our time and energy. We partner with and financially support many organizations that are working to make a difference in the community and beyond.
We serve food to the hungry, provide food and worship for the homeless, tutor children, donate blood and care for children. We “get dirty for Jesus,” building and repairing homes, cleaning up after disasters and bringing hope where there is despair.
In addition to investing our time serving with local agencies and causes, we send at least 10% of our offerings to ministries and agencies to help those in greatest need.
Here are some of the causes we support
Week of Compassion - the relief, refugee and development ministry fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the US and Canada. WOC helps North American Disciples contribute to relief and development efforts world- wide. WOC also encourages and supports volunteer groups in "hands-on" mission and service opportunities in North America and abroad.
Disciples Home Missions - a General Ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with the priorities of leader development, congregational transformation, faith formation and Christian vocations.
Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity - a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry working in partnership with God and the community to build simple, decent, affordable housing, and to provide hope for responsible, hard-working, limited income families living in substandard conditions.
Whiz Kids - a faith-based, one-on-one volunteer tutoring/mentoring program focusing on first through eighth grade students who live in areas which have some of the highest drop-out rates and lowest socioeconomic levels in Oklahoma City. Whiz Kids is proactive and preventative in nature, targeting inner-city schools and students who are reading below grade level and who could benefit most from a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult. Members of our church serve in partnership with Holy Temple Baptist Church in NE Oklahoma City.
The Edmond HOPE Center - a central agency for social services, meeting the basic needs of members of the Edmond community by providing food, clothing, household items and financial assistance for rent, utilities, prescriptions, and transportation.
EARC/Group Homes - Providing greater independence to individuals in Edmond with developmental disabilities and improving their quality of life since 1969.
Central Christian Camp - a year-round camp, conference, retreat and program center of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Oklahoma.
Oklahoma Disciples Foundation - Administering endowment funds that benefit Disciples of Christ ministries and organizations. Campers, students, senior citizens, pastors, churches and many others benefit from these funds.
Disciples Retirement Community of Oklahoma, Inc. – Serving the needs of senior adults in the Oklahoma regional church, especially those who were residents of Oklahoma Christian Home when it was liquidated by the National Benevolent Association.
Phillips Theological Seminary - One of the Disciples-related higher education institutions which educate and train women and men for the ministry.
